Research For The Retro Vinyl Commercial
Matthew and I are going to be working on a retro style vinyl commercial. So our first commercial that we looked at for research was this vinyl commercial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPgfNGK-V4E. Some core aspects of the commercial that we liked were the voice over and the aspect ratio. The voice over allows for creators to directly tell the viewer about the product. Also, from a practical stand point it might be easier to include a voice over in our commercial. The main reason being that the voice over could be done at home. The aspect ratio being more in line to how old TVs were made giving a very retro feel. We plan on using this technique to target our specific audience of people that enjoy the aesthetic of the 80s. The second commercial we picked for reference was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiYxGkDD4iE. This commercial has a more modern feel as apposed to the previous but still conveys a proper message to the viewer. The props used also elevated the commercial and made it feel personal. The vinyl records helped attract a target audience. The inclusion of props like vinyl will be important in showing the audience what they are going to buy. The commercial includes actors as well. They help show of the product to the audience. The actors holing the records could also help make the viewer feel more personal with the product. One thing we plan to do to add on to what the commercial did is show an actor using the product. We think this will create an even more personal feeling with the audience while showing them how to you the product. Both commercials include sets of the record shops. This helps immerse the audience in the world of the commercial. In conclusion, we plan on using film techniques used in both commercials in an attempt to create a superior commercial.
