Music Video CCR

  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?                                                                                                                                       When creating the music video, I drew a lot of inspiration from the original music video for Money by Pink Floyd. One example is the heavy usage of jump cuts. Music videos are a very diverse genre of film, so it is difficult to find conventions that should be followed. The Project is geared toward people that enjoyed the original music video for the song. I think they would gain the most because of some of the similarities in the editing style.
  2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?                                                                                                                                            I think a major attraction for the music video would be the story it's telling. I think the story of a police officer killing a robber is provocative and would spark conversation. I think there is also a lot up for interpretation which could create more conversation. I think posting the video on social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok and YouTube would help ensure the most amount of people can see it. Creating promotional videos that follow trends could also help get people to watch the music video.

  1. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?  I think my production skill improved in my innovation. Since I don't have access to million-dollar production equipment and staff, it's caused me to become more resourceful. I have hand to find many budget ways of getting the job done. For example, I had to stack a bunch of book to prop up my phone camera. I think I also improved with my story telling. Next time I would like to edit the film in a similar way because I think the back-and-forth story telling worked quite well.

  1. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?  For this project, I did not use any new software or technology. The only new thing is my usage of the slow motion on my phone when filming. When using my editing software (Wondershare Filmora) it was easy because I had learned where all the buttons are and what they do from the last project.
